Leading Malawi's transition to a circular economy

Green Economies Made Simple (GEMS) delivers practical, scalable solutions that support Malawi's transition to a circular economy through recycling, green mobility, enterprise development, innovation, and sustainable local systems.

We work with communities, schools, informal waste workers, local authorities, businesses, and development partners to reduce waste, strengthen livelihoods, improve environmental outcomes, and build more resilient local economies.

Who we are

Green Economies Made Simple (GEMS) is a Group of Malawian organisations advancing circular economy solutions that create social, environmental, and economic value.

Our work combines technical assistance, business development, behaviour change, and practical implementation to help communities, institutions, and entrepreneurs turn waste and underused resources into productive opportunities.

Malawi needs solutions that are practical, inclusive, and financially sustainable. We believe that long-term development depends on systems that reduce waste, create dignified work, strengthen local enterprise, and protect the beauty and diversity of the natural world.

By linking implementation with innovation, and livelihoods with environmental outcomes, GEMS helps build pathways toward a more resilient and circular economy.
